Pair of Tribal Nubian Armlets

Anteeka

This is not something you find every day: a matched pair of silver Nubian zar armlets. These were worn high up on the arms by Nubian women and used in the spiritual dance known as the zar ceremony, a dancing, singing ritual to appease spirits. The pair is made of lower grade silver and have lots of bell dangles, perfect for bellydance. The body of the armlet has hand engravings in the shapes of stylized eyes to ward off the evil eye. In good vintage condition. Note: some dangles missing. Anteeka offers one of a kind, vintage jewelry from around the world. These are authentic vintage and antique pieces that may bear some light imperfections, which we find, only add to their charm!
  • Inner circumference is 30.5 cm (12").
  • Inner diameter is 10 cm (4").
  • Width of the band is 1.2 cm (1/2") without the dangles.
